Watch Download Si Agimat at Si Enteng Kabesote

“Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote” is a fuse of two different movies. One is a successful film series and the other is a classic. Enteng has been made to 5 films, I guess? The movie is about the rebirth of Abugan (Benjie Paras), a “demon” killed by Agimat years ago, and his partnering with Sutana (Bing Loyzaga), the evil black witch. The “halimaws” killed a lot of people and used the blood of the corpses for Abugan’s rebirth. However, they needed an amount of blood coming from a white fairy, as suggested by Sutana. Enteng Kabisote (Vic Sotto) and AGIMAT (Bong Revilla) teams up to fight evil and save their loved ones.

When it comes to the effects, there’s no question. It looks more advanced–not particularly saying that it’s close to the effects we see in Hollywood movies–compared to past films, most especially last year’s “Ang Panday” wherein Bong Revilla also stars. I’m very impressed with the 2 snakes on Abugan’s back. It looked very realistic. But they have to do something with the flying scenes. And the effects don’t go well with the “plain-ness” of the film. They should’ve stylized the film a bit. However, the effects proved to us that Filipinos are almost as talented as the visual effects makers of other countries!

But what’s painful about the movie is the substance and performances of other actors. The opening scene is pretty cliched. I mean, a fight scene already? Way overused. But I couldn’t think of a better way to introduce the character’s images as “heroes” in their worlds. The dialog is not that very good, but if Vic Sotto’s “sort-of-ad-lib” lines like “magpa-derma ka kaya” were really written in the script, then, congrats to Sotto for delivering them well, and thumbs down to the writers for making Enteng trying too hard to be funny. And, what’s with the “dahon” jokes? I know Sotto’s promoting Solmux, but is there really a need for it to be mentioned on cam?

Benjie Paras as Abugan is unbearable at the part where he first gets hurt. He lost the tone of his character as someone so “evil”. He transformed into the cliched funny evil villain that’s already been used in a lot of Filipino films. And, why am I not surprised with Sam Pinto’s dull performance? She was acting like herself. I know she just entered showbiz but I didn’t like her performance at all. Her character wasn’t that very likable though, so it wasn’t a big deal for me to feel sorry for the character. She sounded like a monotone throughout the movie and spoke the lines with no feelings at all. Was her character written like that? I don’t think so. And what’s the story behind her character? Samara, Pinto’s character was undeveloped and uninteresting at all.

Jillian Ward is surprisingly adorable but not that great as an actress, thus, making her character, Bebeng likable. However, she shares a really nice chemistry with Pinto, Revilla and the Ermitanyo. I don’t know who played the Ermitanyo, but he should totally get an award for his incredible performance! Whoa, that was a bit over the top but he was really good in the movie. He has this “grandfatherly” mood and I liked it.

How was seeing the movie without G Tongi and Kristine Hermosa as Magenta and Faye, respectively? It was quite disappointing. Although, Amy Perez was good playing the character, Tongi is always the best Magenta for me. And, then, Gwen Zamorra played Faye in this movie. I’m glad that she is because compared to her Cinderella attempt in GMA-7′s Grazilda, she’s actually better in this. Despite her age, she seemed “motherly” next to Oyo Boy Sotto, Aiza Siguerra and Mikaela Ramirez. She also shares a distinct chemistry with Vic Sotto, compared to Sotto’s chemistry with Hermosa.

Zamorra sort of looks like Hermosa, as well. Bong Revilla delivers a great performance, while Vic is surprisingly, still selling his corny antics. Barbie Forteza is also in this, and I applaud for her versatility as an actress! As for the other tweens in the movie, they are pretty much playing the same characters but translated into different settings. Still, they’re not that bad.

As for the movie itself, it’s very entertaining but it lacks in the story and characters development. Jokes are not that funny and slapstick is cringe-worthy. Best actors are Bong Revilla, Gwen Zamorra, and Ermitanyo guy. Least-favorite performance goes to Sam Pinto. She’s a pretty face but she needs to liven up!
